Tables in Rich Text
How to Edit, Use, and Create New Tables in Rich Text
Tables are useful tools available through the Rich Text content on a page; they allow more diversity in the way you can portray complex arrays of information.
How to create a new table:
- To create a new table, open a rich text content module (you can hit the “+ add” button under “Content” if there isn’t one) find the table of tools under the main tab, and click on the button that look like 4 equal squares together
- You can then select how many columns and rows you want in your table (you can add more later by editing the table).
Editing a table:
1. To edit a table, go to the main tab while editing a page, and scroll down to content. Click on the raw text content to make it drop down.
2. Entering the Rich Text content, scroll down past “Title” to “Rich Text”
3. You should see a section under a tab with a bunch of icons, in this section you should see a Item labeled “Table”
4. To edit the Table, click on three dots to the right.
- To delete a row or column, FIRST select a cell in the desired row or column, click on the three dots to edit, and select “Delete Row” or “Delete Column”.
- To add a new column or row, FIRST select a cell (the row or column will be added next to), click on the three dots to edit, and choose an option: “Add Column Right,” “Add Column Left,” “Add Row Above,” or “Add Row Below.”
- To merge cells together; EITHER select a cell, hold shift, and select another cell to select all the cells in-between the two; OR click and hold on a cell and drag the cursor across all the desired cells. With all the desired cells highlighted, click on the three dots to edit, and click on “Merge Cells.”
- To split cells, select a group of cells that have been previously merged into one cell (it will be taller or longer than the other cells), click on the three dots to edit, and select split cells.
5. To edit the text in a cell, simply click on it and begin typing. Any of the text within a table can be edited like normal (bolded, Italicized, bulleted, etc.).
6. You can also add images, modules, and links into your table by using the rich text tool bar, just as you would with normal rich text.
Once you have a rich text set up then you are able to add links and images to tailor your table to what you need.
